Item 14 for *100ThemesChallenge's Variant 1 List - Smile.

-------

This is a concept sketch for the memorial tattoo I eventually want to get for my brother who died five years ago this October. It's based on the design on the back of his gunnery school jacket and is not only a tribute to him but to the rest of his colleagues in the Gunner's Mate rating. A Shore Squid salutes you.

And now for a bit of a rant. You can leave now if you want, but no flames if you do keep reading. This isn't the place for them.

My brother was the inspiration for me to join the Navy, one of the reasons I'm still in today, and one of the reasons why I'll still be in for a good long while. And no, he didn't die overseas. He shot himself. If someone is different than you in a harmless way and you don't like it, keep your goddamn mouth shut and don't harass them about it. Get yourself some therapy and get a life, because they're not the only person who gets hurt when you get stupid.

-------

Micron Sakura ink pens, Sharpie markers, graphite pencils and paper stumps for shading. About four hours.

:icon100themeschallenge: has my permission to post this in their gallery. All others, please ask. As mentioned above, flames are not welcome. Gentle criticism is.

This is a really nice design for a memorial tattoo. It's something different and very original and personal. It looks wonderful. :)

I know it's taken me forever to say this, but thank you! It took me a long time to get this out on paper, both physically and emotionally, and it's nice to see that someone else appreciates it.
